Penny finally gets a campfire

Ryan put in our fire pit in April. We realized this Fall that Penny had never been awake for any of the fires this summer since we always waited till dark. It has been an awesome and warm November thus far so we have taken advantage and have had two campfires so far.
Drama when it comes to who sits where. This isn't even her chair.
But the little sister won out and got the chair.
The look on her face kills me, as if she is saying "this is what you wanted to show me? Seriously?"
I love their tiny little bodies, I want them to stay mini forever.
I finally got a smile.

A few nights ago we had some cousins over and had another fire.

Someone told a hilarious joke and Penny was feeling it. Or she is just cheesy like her mom.
Sweet little face!

Pumpkins and back in the blog saddle

Well... It has been a long blog break. But I'm here today to share so I guess that's something, right? :)
The kids have loved pumpkins the last few weeks. They can't get enough of them. As I blog they are hauling around the house organizing the pumpkins and gourds. What a bunch of sillies.
Between our cameras and phones we have a ton of pictures! I think that's why I stopped blogging, picture overload. So I just quit, unintentionally. Every so often when I take pictures with the kids I do "one take", one picture to capture the moment and whatever I get the first time around is how we remember the occasion. The candidness of the shot takes me back to a time when we used to get excited to go get film developed. But don't be fooled I will still be posting a lot of pictures all having to do with pumpkins (and we haven't even gone to the patch with preschool yet :)). Enjoy!
Right after we got home with the first round of pumpkins. This is a "one take" gem!
Graham, individual "one take".
Penny, individual "one take".
Scooping out the guts, he was really excited to do that part this year.
G practicing his photography skills.
The finished product.
At Wagner Farms picking out more pumpkins and gourds.
This lady loved hauling all over.

Stay tuned. I just might start blogging again...

4th of July

Happy really late 4th of July!!! We had a great 4th with family and friends.

We started the morning off with a neighborhood bike parade.
Graham was pretty happy to get a sticker from the firemen leading the parade.
Penny felt neutral about the parade.

Penny sporting her 4th of July dress (made with all scrap fabric, bonus!) and holding Gma Smith's hand.
Cousin Hank helping Penny eat some cereal.
Where's Penny?
Peek-a-boo. She loves to do this!
Graham did lots of jumping on the trampoline with his cousins.
Graham and his cousin Chloe having some tramp time.
Fireworks!

A dress for Pen

I don't credit myself with being much of a re-purposer. However, I've had this skirt for a few years now and haven't worn it in at least a year, even though I love it. It just looks weird on. I figured it wouldn't be too hard to make it into a little dress for Pen, and guess what, it was pretty easy. Oh and sorry about the picture quality, I didn't feel like getting out the good camera. Kinda lazy...
Skirt I love but haven't worn in over a year.
Oshkosh onesie for $1.95 from Kidz Again.
Before
For anyone who's interested who may have the exact similar skirt this is what I did. I took the bottom 3 inches or so off the skirt. Then I cut a section out of the skirt so it would fit (kind of snug) around the lady. Then I sewed the onesie inside. I cut off the bottom of the onesie. So after the elastic part around her tummy, everything below that no longer is onesie. I don't know if any of that made sense but there you have it.
After

She looks like a tiny rag muffin in these pictures. It was after a long day at church and she was tired and hungry. But I wish I looked this good as a tiny rag muffin after a long day at church when I'm tired and hungry.
